Stories in the Stable
Story-time alongside the ponies | Ages 0-5 with a caregiver | Meets one Friday a month
Program Description
Stories in the Stable invites young children and their caregivers into the peaceful environment of the barn for a gentle early literacy experience alongside the ponies. Through storytelling, songs, simple sensory activities, and quiet time near the herd, children are introduced to language, rhythm, and imagination in a calm and engaging setting. The presence of the ponies creates a unique atmosphere that encourages curiosity, attentiveness, and connection with the natural world. Caregivers remain present and participate alongside their children, creating a shared experience that supports early language development while fostering comfort, wonder, and joy around books and storytelling. Participation is offered on a pay-what-you-wish basis. Contributions help expand community programs. - Meets one Friday a month at 11:00am Upcoming Dates: March 27 April 17 May 22 June 12
Program Policies
Registration Each child must be registered individually. The attending caregiver completes the registration and intake form on behalf of the child. Programs take place in the presence of horses and in a working barn environment. The caregiver registering the child must remain present and supervise their child for the entire session. ⸻ Caregiver Responsibility Caregivers are responsible for supervising their child at all times. Children must remain close to their caregiver and follow facilitator guidance to ensure a safe and calm environment for both participants and horses. If a child becomes overly distressed or disrupts the group, caregivers may be asked to step aside briefly until the child is ready to rejoin. ⸻ Cancellations If you are unable to attend, we request you cancel or reschedule your registration at least 24 hours in advance so another family may participate. If Stable Strides Foundation must cancel a session due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, participants will be notified and reasonable efforts will be made to reschedule. ⸻ Safety & Environment Programs take place in a barn environment and involve the presence of horses. All participants must follow the safety guidance provided by facilitators. ⸻ Appropriate Clothing Participants should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing appropriate for outdoor conditions and movement in a barn environment. ⸻ Nature of Programs Caregiver and child programs are experiential enrichment sessions designed to support early language development, curiosity, and connection with nature through storytelling, sensory activities, and time near the horses. These programs are educational and experiential in nature and do not replace early childhood education services, therapy, or other clinical interventions.
