Through sensory time near the ponies, children and caregivers connect and explore the barn with imagination in a calm setting.​

 

Each Stable Explorer program is a combination of various activity types: 

​

• Stories — Reading, storytelling, and playful exposure to words and sounds.

• Sensory play — Sensory interaction with various barnyard tools and supplies and observation of the ponies and barn environment.

• Collaborations — Activities traditionally found in classrooms, libraries, studios, and community spaces are reimagined through nature, creativity, sensory exploration, and connection with the ponies.​​​​

Focused on social-emotional development, Take the Lead is a modular program that builds leadership, communication, self-advocacy, confidence, and executive functioning skills in youth & teens.​

​

Available in 3 primary modules:

 

• ​Stand Strong — Practical exercises that build awareness of nonverbal communication, boundaries, and emotional regulation.

• Rise Up — Team-based challenges that strengthen collaboration, communication, initiative and leadership.

• Step Forward — Interactive role-play and real-world scenarios that encourage reflection on actions, choices, and outcomes while building independence and real-world confidence.

Skill-building sessions that develop safety, responsibility, and confidence around horses through structured interaction and care.

Mostly ground-based and offered in a progressive curriculum:

• ​Safety & Care —Safe barn practices, horse care routines, and foundational knowledge of equine wellbeing.

• ​Handling & Communication —
  Groundwork skills that strengthen body awareness, and nonverbal communication with the horses.

• Barn Management — exposure to the routines and responsibilities involved in caring for horses and maintaining a barn environment. ​

We use all the aspects of a working horse farm to bring classroom learning to life through exploration of the skills, tools, and effort required to care for horses and maintain our property.

Experiential learning opportunities can be tailored per group, including:

• Horse Care & Wellbeing — learning what horses need to thrive

• Barn Management — the routines, tools, systems, and teamwork that to keep a farm running.

• Learning Through Horses — Connect classroom concepts to real-world experiences through observation, problem-solving, communication, and activities.

• Stewardship — Use the farm environment to explore ecology, agriculture, history, and the relationship between people, animals, and the land.
